At Casa ALBA Melanie, our mission is to promote the well-being of Hispanic and Latino families living in Brown County and Northeast Wisconsin. We believe every individual and family deserves the opportunity to live healthy, stable, and fulfilling lives, regardless of language, culture, or background. Casa ALBA Melanie is a trusted, culturally specific nonprofit organization that connects Hispanic and Latino families with the resources, education, advocacy, and community support they need to thrive. Through culturally responsive services, professional services, educational programs, health navigation, resource referrals, and strategic community partnerships, we help families overcome barriers, strengthen their well-being, and create opportunities for future generations. We are the longest established organization serving Latino families in the Greater Green Bay area. OUR ORIGIN STORYAfter a 25-year ministry to the Hispanic/Latino community at St. Willebrord Parish, Father Ken DeGroot (a Norbertine Priest) and Sister Melanie Maczka saw a need for increased support and services for this growing population. Together with local Latino leaders, volunteers and supporters they established the resource center in 2012 and continued their lifelong commitment to serving the community with compassion, dignity and care.

- 26,000+ Hispanic and Latino residents call Brown County home, making it one of the fastest-growing and most vibrant communities in Northeast Wisconsin.
- The average age of a Hispanic or Latino resident is approximately 25 years old, making our community significantly younger than the overall Brown County population and highlighting the importance of investing in children, youth, and young families.
- Nearly three out of every four Hispanic and Latino residents in Brown County live in the City of Green Bay, where Casa ALBA Melanie is proud to serve.
- More than 13,000 residents speak Spanish at home, reinforcing the importance of providing culturally and linguistically responsive services.
- More than 6,300 Latino residents were born outside the United States, reflecting the diversity of experiences, cultures, and migration stories that enrich our community.
- Approximately one-third of students enrolled in the Green Bay Area Public School District identify as Hispanic or Latino, representing more than 6,000 students and illustrating the growing impact of the Latino community on the future of our region.
- Brown County's Latino community is diverse, with families representing many countries across Latin America. The largest communities include those with roots in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Honduras, Guatemala, Colombia, and El Salvador, along with many other Central American, South American, and Caribbean countries.
- The median household income for Hispanic and Latino households is approximately $36,800, compared to approximately $66,200 for all households in Brown County. This highlights the continued importance of expanding access to education, workforce development, financial empowerment, healthcare, and housing opportunities.

OUR LOGO

Our logo was designed by Armando Rodriguez, a local Latino youth as the organization was being formed in 2011. Our formal organization name is Casa ALBA Melanie. “Casa” means “House or Home”, and “ALBA” means “Dawn” for newness or hope. ALBA is also an acronym for “Association for Latino Well-Being and Assistance.” Melanie is a tribute to the organization’s first Executive Director, Sister Melanie Maczka. The colors in the Casa ALBA logo represent many of the colors in Latin American flags. The rising sun represents hope and new beginnings.
